Fix8 AI Help

AI phone receptionist setup

Connect your main line, understand after-hours answering and avoid forwarding loops.

Connect your main phone line

Fix8 sets up the receptionist on your existing client account, saves its minute cap, creates the agent and tests it before attaching a phone number. Voice settings are managed by Fix8, not edited in the client console.

  1. Get the assistant's phone number from Fix8.
  2. Ask your carrier to forward when busy or unanswered if staff should answer first and the AI should catch missed calls.
  3. Choose forward all calls instead if the AI should answer every call to your main line.
  4. Place a test call from another phone and confirm the greeting and any transfers.

Find your carrier's forwarding settings

Exact star codes and settings vary by carrier. Search your carrier name plus conditional call forwarding, or ask your phone provider. Do not use codes intended for another carrier.

Only outside business hours

Ask Fix8 to set Only outside business hours, your timezone and your weekly opening hours. During open hours, incoming calls go to the saved forward-to number instead of the AI. A forward-to number is required for this mode.

Use a direct forward-to number

Use a direct line or cell phone that rings a person. Do not use the main number that forwards to this assistant, or calls can loop. The forward-to number must not be the assistant's own number.

What callers hear

Callers hear the greeting and AI disclosure configured for your business. Confirm the wording with Fix8 before going live. The receptionist uses your business information to answer questions and capture caller details. The greeting and disclosure stay as entered, including when bilingual answering is enabled.

If AI answering is paused or its allowed minutes are exhausted, calls are forwarded to your saved direct number, or turned away if there is no forwarding number.
